Wax Ink Forever Portfolio - October Performance

We have been saying for quite some time that the economy is not as robust as the government and Wall Street would have us believe. Yesterday's 250 point slide in the Dow coupled with a 25% upward move in the VIX, reinforces our assessment.

We hope the average investor is paying attention, and not allowing the rear winded rhetoric of CNBC to influence their investment decisions.

The Wax Ink Forever Portfolio, which had been participating in the lunacy of the current market race to oblivion, ended the month down 7.22% from the prior month. Not exactly stellar performance.

But as we have been reminding everyone, investing is a lifetime activity, and while there will most certainly be increases and decreases in the portfolio on a shorter-term basis, over a life time of saving and investing, we believe our portfolio will meet our investing goals.

The Wax Ink Forever Portfolio - October 2009

I was asked several weeks ago by an on-line friend, what stocks I would keep forever. Actually I had never thought about it, since 5 to 7 years is pretty much my limit for holding a stock.

But the question so intrigued me that I went back and reconstructed some purchases with the thought in mind; what if I never sold?

Enter the Wax Ink Forever Portfolio.

The concept is simple. Once a month I am going to add a stock to this portfolio based on the concept of never selling. Hopefully I will learn if time.....really is an investor's best friend.
